Iranian President Hassan Rouhani criticized the European performance with regard to fulfilling its obligations towards the nuclear deal, following the unilateral withdrawal of the US administration from this agreement, stressing that if Europe really wants to preserve the nuclear agreement, it must prove that in practice.

The IRNA news agency quoted Rouhani as saying during a telephone conversation today with German Chancellor “Angela Merkel” that adding new issues to the nuclear agreement is impossible, indicating that this agreement as a document approved by the UN Security Council was achieved after long-term efforts between Iran and 6 major countries in The world is bounded by certain unchangeable frameworks.

Rouhani added that the continuation of the nuclear agreement while maintaining the embargo and the parties not abiding by their pledges is unacceptable and lacks legitimacy, pointing out that the only way to preserve the nuclear agreement lies in the abolition of the inhuman and illegal US embargo, and then the return of this country to the agreement.

He explained that the Iranian government is obligated within the framework of the law ratified by parliament to continue to reduce more of its commitments before the non-commitment of the other party and also not to cancel the ban on it, stressing at the same time that when the ban is lifted, we will return to all of our obligations stipulated in the nuclear agreement.

For her part, the German Chancellor stressed the necessity of preserving the nuclear agreement as an international consensus, calling for resolving differences through dialogue and strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between all countries in order to maintain security and stability in the region.
