A taxi driver, a resident of the Shephelah, was arrested yesterday (Tuesday) on suspicion of printing counterfeit banknotes and distributing them to elderly people traveling in his taxi.
According to the details of the covert investigation, which has been conducted in recent weeks, investigators from the fraud unit tracked the driver on suspicion of deceiving seniors while taking advantage of their situation by giving them a surplus for the trip payment and offering to bill bills, using money suspected of counterfeit.

At the end of the investigation, the police arrested the suspected driver, who works in the Tel Aviv area, on the side of the road.
During a search of his taxi, many banknotes, suspected of being counterfeit, seized a total of more than NIS 3,000.
The suspect was arrested for questioning at the end of which he was imprisoned. In accordance with the needs of the investigation, his detention was extended by one day, at least at this stage, along with further collection of findings that may lead to additional victims.
