The discussion in the Election Commission
The Election Committee today (Wednesday) discussed applications to disqualify candidates and lists from the Knesset elections to be held next month.
Almost all the applications for disqualification were submitted this time by the "Jewish Power" list, which seeks to prevent the bidding of Abtisam Mara'an-Menuhin, who is running for seventh place in the work list, and of RAAM and the joint list. By Maozia Segal - a social activist who was fatally wounded among the Chinese farm, and was previously placed on a symbolic spot on the Meretz list for the Knesset.
Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit believes that all requests should be rejected. "The Supreme Court's ruling regarding the criteria for disqualification of candidates, the limited evidence presented in the context of the two applications for disqualification of the respondent's candidacy for the Knesset, most of which does not establish any of the three grounds for disqualification," Mandelblit wrote.

"(He) does not establish an evidentiary basis for accepting the rejection requests, and certainly no" critical evidential mass "of unequivocal, clear and convincing evidence has accumulated in relation to one of the at least three grounds for disqualification, which is required by the Supreme Court ruling to disqualify a candidate from Knesset elections."
Mara'ana this week expressed remorse for the post she wrote in 2013, in which she said she did not stand by the siren on Memorial Day.
In an interview with News 12, Maraana said that "I stand by the siren when I'm out. I'm sorry it (the post) hurts every heart of a mother or father or a brother or sister who lost his son."
She added that "this is a very old and miserable status. Today, if I had rewritten it, rewritten it, I would not have written it at all."
