London - Sana

British scientists have revealed that they are working to expose a number of healthy volunteers between 18-30 years of age in Britain to the emerging corona virus, in the first experiment of its kind, with the aim of a deeper understanding of the virus.

The British Health Times stated that this scientific experiment is the first of its kind in the world that relies on deliberately injecting people with the virus, and it will take place in a "safe and controlled" environment, as those in charge of it say.

The study is based on the first version of the Corona virus that has spread in Britain since March 2020 and not from the mutated version known to be more powerful, as scientists say that the version used in the trial has a low risk for adults and has won the approval of the Ethical Authority for Clinical Trials in Britain.

The purpose of the experiment, according to those in charge of it, is to give doctors a deeper understanding of Covid 19 disease and support the response to the epidemic through the development of vaccines and treatments.

The experiment will be done by giving the participants drops mixed with the virus in the nose, and then they will be placed in quarantine inside a hospital in London.

Doctors and scientists will closely monitor the impact of the virus on the volunteers and will be under care 24 hours.

The British government has allocated 33 million pounds sterling, equivalent to 45 million dollars, to support the scientific experiment project.

Acting head of the vaccination unit team in Britain, Cliff Dix, said: "We expect this study to help provide new insights into how the virus works and help us to conclude more promising vaccines that provide better protection against infection."
