Will the rich of the world manage without lamb chops or steaks?

At least that's what Microsoft founder, entrepreneur and philanthropist Bill Gates believes, believing that this is the only solution to global warming.

In an interview with MIT Tech Review last night (Tuesday), Gates said, "Twenty percent of the richest countries in the world will have to switch to meat substitutes to deal with the global greenhouses. I know that vegetarian meat substitutes today do not have the taste of original meat, And with our habituation - it will be a small price to pay to stop global warming. "

"We will have to move to this by changing the behavior of the public as well as by implementing legislation and regulation on the subject," he added.

Gates, who is heavily involved in air pollution and global pollution, noted that 80% of the world's poorest countries will not be able to switch to vegetarian food - but noted that those who can do so must make the move.

Asked about methods to reduce air pollution and methane gas generated by raising cattle herds, Gates said: "I am aware of all attempts to give cows foods that reduce methane emissions by 20%, but the bottom line is that the bacteria that produce this gas are part of the cows' digestive system. Which allows them to digest the grass they eat - so I see no real way we will continue to grow huge herds of cattle that produce both by digestion and by their excretions the gas.It is simply not feasible, so in my opinion there is no escape from everyone who can switch to vegetarian food ".

Regarding lab meat breeding projects, the developer said that "I am skeptical about the ability of such companies to really become cheap and profitable at a level where they could be a real substitute for meat grown in herds of cows today. It's a nice idea but it will never be commercial."
