The federal government is to take over the financing for the planned free rapid tests in pharmacies, test centers and practices.
This has now also been assured by Federal Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD).
"Well, I have my full support there, and we will do it financially," said the Social Democrat at an event by the Bavarian SPD.
"I think we can still afford that now." He had already promised Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) his support last week.
According to an announcement by Spahn, all citizens should be able to be tested for the corona virus by trained staff free of charge from March 1.
According to this, free quick tests are planned in test centers, practices and pharmacies, with which you can get a result within about 15 minutes.
To do this, you have to have a nose or throat swab taken.
However, the antigen tests are not considered to be as accurate as other PCR tests.
According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), a positive result must therefore be confirmed by a PCR test.
