Like most of his team, the Vodafone boss is currently working from home.

The Austrian, who received his doctorate in 1994 on the subject of beer marketing, began his career shortly afterwards at the consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble.

He has been running the German subsidiary of Vodafone since October 2015.

Since the takeover of the cable network from Liberty Global (known as Unitymedia in Germany) in 2019, almost 60 percent of sales have come from the fixed line business (1.63 billion euros in the last quarter).

In Germany, Vodafone is the main competitor of the market leader Deutsche Telekom.
