Algerian President Abdemadjid Tebboune has decided to dissolve the national assembly and call for early legislative elections on Thursday February 18 in a highly anticipated speech to the Nation.

I decided to dissolve the National People's Assembly (APN) to call for elections,
" said Abdemadjid Tebboune, who said he wanted to "
open its doors to youth
". The Algerian head of state has also announced a cabinet reshuffle "
within 48 hours at most
". He also decreed a pardon for several dozen detainees in Hirak, a protest movement against the Algerian regime.
