An Algiers court on Thursday, February 18, sentenced Abdelmalek Hamzaoui, the main defendant on trial for the assassination of Frenchman Hervé Gourdel, a high mountain guide kidnapped and beheaded by jihadists in Algeria in 2014.

On the other hand, the five guides of the French guide and a sixth defendant prosecuted for not having informed the authorities in time of the kidnapping of Hervé Gourdel, were all acquitted, according to an AFP journalist present in court.
