A "European sovereign will" providing the protection of peoples with the reinforcement of a union for security and defense?
We can cherish the dream, as long as we do not ignore the realities.
The latter are in the spirit which animates the organs of the European Union, in the resolutely anti-equalist software that they implement.

The organs of the Union only have attribution powers, defined by the Treaties.
They do not have the “
competence of their competences
” (which remains the prerogative of the national States).
In matters of security and defense, even more than in any other matter, the organs of the Union should refrain from any excess of power, because the treaties (that is to say the sovereign peoples) have not transferred no competence in the Union:
"National security remains the sole competence of each Member State",
specifies paragraph 2 of Article 4 of the Treaty on European Union.
By suffocating the sovereign state, the Union would deprive of guarantees
