The young Israeli woman imprisoned in Syria crossed the border two weeks ago, despite severe weather in the area, which included strong winds, rain and cold, according to security sources today (Thursday).
After crossing the border, she began to walk in one of the streams and descended its slopes towards Syria, until she reached one of the villages in the area.
The IDF did not know about crossing the border in real time, and so far the exact location where it crossed has not been located.
In the last few weeks since crossing the Israeli border, the IDF has increased its level of sensitivity towards shepherds in the Blue Line area.
Security officials estimate that the arrest of the two shepherds was made on the assumption that they would serve as a bargaining chip for future negotiations.

Following a request from Russian officials in Syria for the case, an in-depth investigation was conducted that revealed that the Israeli had crossed the border from Israel to Syria in an area without a fence, nor an obstacle.
According to security sources, the young woman passed through the area defined as a "dead zone" for observation and surveillance, so so far no exact photo or video documenting the crossing in the area has been found.

The IDF investigation clearly reveals that the existing observers and sensors in the area did not warn of any suspicious incident at the site.
Following the incident, it was decided to draw lessons to prevent crossings from the Israeli side to the Syrian side.
Security sources added that the possibility that the Israeli had previously tried to cross the border from Israel into the Gaza Strip was being investigated, and that the high fence failed.
