The epidemic treatment team this evening (Thursday) recommended that the Ministry of Health vaccinate corona recoverers in one dose, three months after recovery from the virus.

The Priority Committee discussed whether to perform a serological test for all recovering patients to examine the level of antibodies present in them, but finally decided that after three months of recovery the risk of side effects from the vaccine decreases significantly.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, there are currently more than 600,000 recovering patients across the country, and it is likely that there will be about 400,000 people who will have to receive the additional dose of vaccine following the decision.

Last week, a new study found that one dose of Pfizer's corona vaccine was enough to elicit a strong immune response in recovering people from the virus.

The Ministry of Health treated the study conducted by Prof. Michael Edelstein, an epidemiologist from the Faculty of Medicine of Bar-Ilan University in the Galilee, with caution, and then decided not to vaccinate recovering patients, and clearly give priority to vaccinating those who have not yet been infected.
