Three nurses who had treated Carlos Saúl Menem, who died last Sunday at the age of 90, will be investigated within the framework of the case for the theft of a gold ring that belonged to the former president.

Meanwhile, the family offered a reward to anyone who contributed data to find it.

The defendants must appear between February 26 and 27 before the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office 42, in charge of Carlos Arturo Velarde, in the case labeled so far as "investigation of wrongdoing."

The lawyer Diego Storto, representative of Zulemita Menem, told

Télam

that "in the first instance there is no legal qualification because the crime has not yet been classified," although he clarified that in principle it would be "theft".

"If there was an external collaboration or between them, the accusation may be aggravated," added the lawyer.

Meanwhile, Storto assured that the Menem family offered

a "monetary reward" without a fixed amount

for those who provide data on the place where the black onyx stone that belonged to the former president is located.

"Once the person tells us '

the ring is on that side

' we are going to rate the data and the reward with the discovery of the ring," he said.

The robbery was reported on December 14, while the Riojan senator was admitted to the Sanatorio de los Arcos, in Palermo, and was alerted by his daughter Zulemita and his personal nurse.

According to the spokesmen, the day before, Zulemita had asked his father's personal custody to go to his home, on Echeverría Street, in Belgrano, to look for some personal belongings, including a case of glasses where the former president kept the ring he used to wear on the ring finger of his left hand.

The next day, Menem's nurse, who was returning to work after taking vacations, wanted to give him the glasses but could not find them, so he went to the department, where he discovered that a cell phone of the former head of state was also missing.

In his complaint, the man specified that he worked as a home caregiver together with three other nurses who had been temporarily hired by the Swiss Medical company, the prepaid social work that attended Menem, the sources indicated.

Prosecutor Velarde requested a series of investigative tasks from the Robbery and Theft Division of the City Police to identify the suspects.

With the data collected, the prosecutor issued some search warrants with the intention of clarifying the theft.

The stolen ring is a piece of gold with an onyx stone that does not have much economic value but it does affect the family, since it was an exact replica of the one that his father had given him and that Menem had lost.
