There is sharp criticism of Sahra Wagenknecht's campaign appearance among the left in Saxony-Anhalt.
The parliamentary group has invited the party-internal controversial ex-Bundestag parliamentary group chairman to the “Digital New Year's Reception” next week.
There she speaks to the left-wing top candidate for the state election, Eva von Angern, on the subject of "Solidarity out of the crisis".
According to SPIEGEL information, there was criticism of the parliamentary group's planning in several internal discussions.
“I would have liked it better if she hadn't been invited.
It polarizes and repeatedly brings disputes into the party, ”says Rebekka Grotjohann, a member of the state executive, SPIEGEL.
"With her anti-refugee statements and her blinking to the right, Wagenknecht made herself very unpopular with many of us and also with me," said Grotjohann.
There were many others who could have been invited, such as the outgoing party chairwoman Katja Kipping or the designated chairmen Susanne Hennig-Wellsow and Janine Wissler.
"Why does it have to be Sahra Wagenknecht of all people?" That was not a good sign within the party either.
Left-wing member of the state parliament, Henriette Quade, also finds Wagenknecht's invitation wrong.
»Sahra Wagenknecht has been using her celebrities exclusively for her own agenda for some time.
It can do that, but it has nothing to do with the agenda of a left, «said Quade.
Wagenknecht's digital visit was the "wrong signal to the party, but above all to the outside world."
In addition, the state association of Saxony-Anhalt is not in favor of Wagenknecht's course.
"Sahra Wagenknecht is the most controversial person in our party and alienates many of the members," says Ruth Fiedler, Deputy Head of the Harz District Association.
Wagenknecht ignore party decisions and present their criticisms of their own party almost exclusively in the media.
“She keeps accusing us of not understanding our own people.
That divides us.
Sahra Wagenknecht is very damaging to our party, «said Fiedler.
She is against going to the event.
Only recently had several district associations in Wagenknecht's own state association in North Rhine-Westphalia directed against their plans to run as a top candidate there.
For example, the Cologne district association withdrew its support from Wagenknecht.
At the end of next week, the digital party conference of the federal left will take place, at which Hennig-Wellsow and Wissler are to be elected as the new chairman duo.
The dispute between Wagenknecht and the previous party chairman Kipping, which has been going on for years, should actually be settled.
