Several NGOs announced on Friday February 19 legal proceedings against the provisional re-authorization of neonicotinoid insecticides in the beet industry, denouncing the return of "
bee killers
".

To deal with the drop in the sugar beet harvest due to the invasion of a green aphid vector of jaundice, a law was passed in October to allow an exemption to the ban on these substances in this sector. until July 1, 2023.
After the green light from the Constitutional Council in December, an order clarified in early February its implementation: a marketing authorization for 120 days of sugar beet seeds coated with two neonicotinoids (imidacloprid or thiamethoxam) with conditions of strict employment.
Highlighting "
the critical state of bee and insect populations in general, in Europe
", seven NGOs, including France Nature Environnement, Générations Futures or Pollinis, have filed appeals before the administrative courts of Lyon and Toulouse, have -they announced in a press release.
They demand the suspension in summary proceedings, then the cancellation of the marketing of the two products marketed by Bayer and Syngenta, whose French offices are located in the jurisdictions of these two courts.
Another NGO, Agir pour l'Environnement, for its part indicated on Friday that it would file an appeal next week with the Council of State to obtain the suspension of the decree re-authorizing these controversial insecticides.
