Sentenced Wednesday evening by the Paris Court of Appeal, the mayor of Draveil chose to appeal to the Supreme Court, a suspensive act in matters

It was not until Georges Tron's cassation appeal on Thursday evening that the departmental majority was finally expressed.

This Friday, the elected members of the group "L'Essonne avec vous" signed a joint text in which he calls on the mayor (Les Républicains) of Draveil, sentenced on appeal by the Paris Assize Court to five years' imprisonment including two suspended sentences and six years of ineligibility for rape and sexual assault in a meeting on a former employee, to resign from her mandate as departmental councilor.

"Respect due to his constituents"

“At this time, Georges Tron has not indicated that he is resigning from his elective mandates, argues the president of the departmental council, François Durovray (LR) and the 24 other signatories.

In view of the sanction pronounced, the suffering of the victims of sexual assault, the respect due to his voters and to the departmental institution in which we are part, we urge him, although he sits in the opposition , to resign from his mandate as departmental councilor of Essonne.

"

The opposition group Keep our commitments, to which Georges Tron belongs in the departmental assembly, did not respond to our requests on Friday.

In the town of Draveil, the opposition group "Draveil democratic, ecological and social transition" called on Thursday for "the collective resignation of the municipal council" with a view to "opening the way to new elections.
