In the "Hong Kong Four Track Super Challenge (HK4TUC, referred to as Four Tracks)" held from the first day to the third day of the Lunar New Year, trail runner Jacky Leung unintentionally ran the 298 kilometers of wheat in 49 hours and 21 minutes. Lehigh Trail, Wilson Trail, Hong Kong Island Trail and Phoenix Trail became the first runner in history to complete the four major hiking trails in Hong Kong within 50 hours.

Although the theme of the 4th trail is "Breaking 50", Liang Junqiang originally had no intention of challenging the 50-hour record, but only set the goal of 55 hours, guarding the middle reaches of the wheat trail and the guard trail.

However, he was fortunate to have no serious injuries or gastrointestinal problems, and he got more and more courageous from the Hong Kong Island trail.

When he arrived in Mui Wo, he realized that the 50-hour record was not as far away as he thought...

This year is the 10th Four Paths. The congress invites the previous completers and survivors to participate again.

In the atmosphere where masters gather, I hope someone will break the 53-hour venue record and even make a good result within 50 hours.

Last year, Liang Junqiang, who completed the four-track in 58 hours and 31 minutes, also signed up, but the number of places is limited. On a first-come, first-served basis, he is ranked 6th on the waiting list, and the chance of participating is small.

However, under the epidemic situation, many foreign players have no choice but to give up coming to Hong Kong. Liang Junqiang was only notified on December 9th last year and he can participate later.

Strengthen speed training

Liang Junqiang didn't have much time to prepare for the four-track. After he finished the HK100 in mid-January, he officially started training for the four-track.

In the week after completing the HK100, he immediately strengthened his training and completed a total of 280 kilometers in 8 days, ensuring that he has the endurance to complete the 298 kilometers four-track.

After that, he reduced his training volume and switched to exercise speed.

He repeatedly refreshed his personal fastest time of 10 kilometers, and one week before the fourth track, he tried to run 10 kilometers in 38 minutes and 46 seconds.

He said: "Seeing that my condition improves with the reduction in training. This time 10K gave me a cardiotonic injection, which made me know that my heart, lungs and body are ready to run four tracks."

Liang Junqiang has been running the mountain for 15 years. In the past, he participated in long-distance races and was often affected by gastrointestinal problems. Therefore, he consulted a Chinese medicine practitioner 3 weeks before this fourth track, took Chinese medicine to regulate his body, and refrained from cold drinks and irritating foods. "Enable individuals to have enough rest and do a lot of work for their gastrointestinal function." Strategically, Liang Junqiang intends to cut down on sleep time during the Four Paths.

He scored 58 hours and 31 minutes last year, of which he spent 8 hours sleeping. As long as he reduces sleep, he can shorten the completion time.

He emphasized: "I do have a deployment, but it's not for 50%, but for 52 to 53 hours."

In the early morning of the first day of the Lunar New Year, 18 runners gathered in Tuen Mun and set off separately. Liang Junqiang started at the end of line 3.

On Mak Path Road, Leung Chun Keung surpassed many runners. For example, he met Luo Chujian in the fourth section of Mak Path, and the latter said he had vomited twice.

At the wheat trail, Liang Junqiang performed as expected. It took more than 13 hours to finish the 100-kilometer wheat trail on the first night of the Lunar New Year and arrive at Pak Tam Chung.

At that time, there were mainly 4 people who ran faster than Liang Junqiang, namely Tom Robertshaw, Zeng Xiaoqiang, Salomon Wettstein and Luo Qibang; Liang Junqiang called these 4 masters.

Liang Junqiang said: "I told everyone before the game that only these four masters are qualified to break 50 hours. Tom Robertshaw has done 53 hours and is the field record holder. Zeng Xiaoqiang has done 54 hours. Bangbang (Luo Qibang) The training volume is close to 1,000 kilometers a month, and the strength is very strong. Salomon has done a lot of preparation for breaking 50 hours."

On the first night of the Lunar New Year, Liang Junqiang took a car from Pak Tam Chung to Nan Chung and started running the 78-kilometer Wilson Trail.

The weather was cool at first, and after getting out of the car, he ran for 15 minutes in a wind jacket before he felt warm.

Passing through Baxianling and up to Jiulongkeng Mountain, on the way to Taihe, he met Tom Robertshaw, one of the four masters.

Liang Junqiang said, "I saw Tom. He said he had abdominal pain and couldn't eat anything. When he ran down the mountain, his abdomen hurts even more, so he couldn't run." There was a strong wind and cold on the mountain, and Tom Robertshaw couldn't take a nap to recover.

He had to quit afterwards and failed to complete the four-track this year.

Tom Robertshaw withdrew and missed the four-track 50 hours.

Liang Junqiang is not having a good time on Wilson Path.

After Taihe finished eating cup noodles, he went to the lead mine cave and went to Sha Tin Au via the city gate.

On this dull water diversion road, his sleepiness struck, and his journey slowed down.

He couldn't eat cup noodles and felt nauseous when he arrived at the store in Sha Tin Au.

He said, "From Sha Tin Col to Lam Tin, there are more ups and downs. It is difficult to grasp the rhythm when tired, and it slows down the progress." With insufficient energy, he went to Lam Tin, ate Shaomai, and relapsed. Drank coke.

The state recovered after the second paragraph of Wei Path

"I usually don't recommend drinking Coke, because it affects the stomach and muscles." But this time it worked. He said, "In the four mountains on Hong Kong Island, I woke up and started to run happily. ." On the morning of the second day of the Lunar New Year, he ran two sections of guard trails, to Magang Hill at noon, and then to Stanley.

It took 15 hours and 5 minutes for Liang Junqiang to complete the guard trail, which was two hours slower than he expected.

He laughed and said that the situation was the same as last year. It was the most painful and the slowest progress in Wei Jing. "I know that Wei Jing must be "fired"! I ran four tracks in the past two years and it was very tragic in Wei Jing."

He is not the only one who is tragic in Wei Jing!

One of the four masters, Zeng Xiaoqiang, suffered a knee injury and gritted his teeth and fell to Stanley. Although he insisted on taking the Hong Kong Island Trail, he could no longer stand to withdraw from Dragon's Back; the other four masters, Salomon Wettstein, was also there. Wei Jing started to suffer from quadriceps pain.

At 1:30 pm on the second day of the Lunar New Year, Liang Junqiang started from Shek O and began to conquer the 50-kilometer Hong Kong Island Trail.

He gradually recovered from the trough of Wei Jing and improved.

After passing Yangming Mountain Villa, to Beilu Road, he met Luo Qibang, one of the four masters.

Encourage Lo Kai-bang on the Hong Kong Island Trail

Liang Junqiang said: "Bangbang tried his best to run slowly, very persistent, but unfortunately he was really powerless. He was stubborn, vomiting and aching feet. He couldn't provide energy for eating, and it was difficult to walk fast. I gave him an encouragement. See you at the Central Pier at 9 p.m. I hope to ignite his fire and have a goal.” Leung Chun-kiang arrived at The Peak Galleria at 8:40, and took 7 hours and 6 minutes to complete the Island Trail, that is, he got in a friend’s car. Rush to the pier and take a small shift to Mui Wo at 9 o'clock.

Leung Chun-keung became more and more courageous on the Hong Kong Island Trail. He had planned to rush to Mui Wo at 8:20 pm, and finally arrived at 9 pm.

Liang Junqiang ran for two days, and the fourth track has completed the third.

Although he had nauseated, he has recovered and is in a stable condition. He is also glad that he has no major gastrointestinal problems.

When he got on the boat, he ate and slept, and received a massage from the support staff.

He knows very well that waiting for him is the 70-kilometer Phoenix Trail, but unexpectedly, waiting for him is Salomon Wettstein, one of the four leading players, and the 50-hour record...to be continued next.

What are the four paths?

The Hong Kong Four Trails Super Challenge requires participants to walk along the four major hiking trails in Hong Kong. They are 100 kilometers of MacLehose trail, 78 kilometers of Wilson trail, 50 kilometers of Hong Kong Island trail, and 70 kilometers of Phoenix trail. The whole journey is 298 Kilometers.

Those that can be completed within 60 hours will receive the honor of "Completer", and those that can be completed within 72 hours will be called "Survivors".
