Around 30 firefighters and water rescue workers were busy rescuing a deer on Thursday evening at Lake Egglburg in the Ebersberg district.
The animal had lost itself on the ice surface.
Ebersberg - According to the Ebersberg fire brigade commander Christoph Münch, the deer first broke in in the area of the west bank.
Attempts by the rescuers called to free the animal from its predicament failed.
They caused the deer to flee towards the middle of the lake, where it lay exhausted on the ice.

The fire brigades from Ebersberg, Egglburg and Glonn then tried to approach with a boat and rescue sledge in order to drive the deer towards the bank.
But advancing on the relatively thin ice was difficult.

The boat could not be used due to a technical defect, rowing was not possible, the load-bearing capacity of the ice was too low for the sled.
Finally, due to the onset of darkness, the fire fighters withdrew so that the deer can rest on the ice and gather strength.
Egglburger See: animal drama comes to a happy end - deer saved
As Commander Münch said, the tactic had worked.
The animal finally made it to the east bank of the lake, where it rested in the reed belt.
There they lost sight of it.
There was recently an animal surprise in the Bavarian town of Bad Bayersoien: There a deer secretly sneaked into a boiler room - and made himself comfortable.
Because they have been together for over seven years and there is still no wedding coming up, the couple Alexander Bitsch (25) and Sonja Weidel (29) from Neufarn were surprised with a curious custom - on Valentine's Day of all places.
By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our new, regular Ebersberg newsletter.
