Parents' council demands: all children to school!

Alternating classes start on Monday in schools. But in special cases, wouldn't it also be possible to have full face-to-face teaching, as is the case with the Neubiberg primary school? The parents' council addressed this request to Minister of Education and Cultural Affairs Michael Piazolo.

Alternating classes start on Monday in schools.

But in special cases, wouldn't it also be possible to have full face-to-face teaching, as is the case with the Neubiberg primary school?

The parents' council addressed this request to Minister of Education and Cultural Affairs Michael Piazolo.

Neubiberg

- Just a few months ago, Free Voters boss Hubert Aiwanger was enthusiastic about the Neubiberg Pionierweg.

At the school, room fans are used which, according to a study by the Federal University of Neubiberg, together with other measures, are suitable for greatly reducing the residual risk of infection.

It is therefore conceivable to fall below the prescribed minimum distance of 1.5 meters without having to fear negative consequences.

In the first half of the 2020/2021 school year, there was therefore not a single corona case at the Neubiberg primary school in full-time classes, even if the distance could not be maintained.

Air purifiers and cutting discs

On the basis of the school study by the expert Christian Kähler from the Bundeswehr University in Neubiberg and with his support, the municipality has purchased room air purifiers and cutting discs.

Protection concepts in which the risk of infection is realized by room air purifiers plus partition walls would have the advantage that viruses in the room would be rendered harmless within a short time.

Face-to-face lessons better than alternate lessons

The parents' council believes that alternating lessons are better than the previous solution.

But it cannot replace full face-to-face teaching.

Especially with regard to the social consequences if the children are only partially schooled over a longer period of time.

And also against the background that the children are in this predicament for the second year in a row.

The advisory board asks "for an urgent examination of whether face-to-face lessons with the whole class without grouping will be possible from next Monday due to the excellent hygienic equipment at the Neubiberg primary school."

Infections on the way to school from full buses are excluded, the school is within walking distance for the children.

Neubiberg is alone with his advance

Otherwise, as far as our newspaper knows, no school in the district has yet planned an advance, not even in Grünwald.

Here, the two educational institutions, the Martin Kneidl elementary school and the grammar school, are fully equipped with room cleaners that kill viruses.

The deputy headmaster of the Grünwald grammar school, Günter Förschner, sees no possibility for separate regulations.

Rector from Unterhaching can understand the considerations

Gabriela Löffelmeier, Rector of the elementary school on Jahnstrasse in Unterhaching, can understand the mental games of the Neubiberger parents' council.

After all, the local school is particularly supported by the local Bundeswehr University when it comes to the fight against areosols.

"This is their baby and therefore probably the best-equipped school in Bavaria with air filters," she suspects.

In the classrooms of their elementary school, however, there are no air filters, only equipment was purchased for the gym.

Therefore, foröffelmaier there is no question that at her school no complete classes can take part in face-to-face classes at once.

"We have alternating lessons - this time on a daily basis," explains the Rector.

The classes are divided into two groups, which can come to the school for face-to-face classes either on Tuesdays and Thursdays or Wednesdays and Fridays.

For the days on which the respective group has to study from home, there are work assignments from the class leaders including the corresponding material.

On Mondays, both groups are not allowed to go to school at the same time, but at different times.

"During the time in which one group has left the classroom and the new group comes into the class, the teacher will ventilate well and disinfect the tables," says Löffelmeier.

For the district office, the legal situation in the Neubiberg case is clear

For the district office, the legal situation in Neubiberg's case is clear: “According to the current legal situation, the only decisive factor in deciding whether to conduct lessons as full face-to-face or alternate lessons is compliance with the minimum distance of 1.5 meters.

If this cannot be adhered to, alternate lessons must be taken. "

The district office is not aware of any further possibilities of carrying out full face-to-face teaching, even if the minimum distance cannot be maintained.

The Ministry of Culture argues in the same way, as a request from Münchner Merkur revealed.
