Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a telephone conversation with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro, renewed his country's support for the measures taken by the Venezuelan authorities aimed at strengthening the country's sovereignty.
The Russian Presidency (Kremlin) website said in a statement that Putin and Maduro discussed "in a constructive and friendly manner the urgent issues to develop strategic partnership relations between Russia and Venezuela", noting that the two presidents "focused special attention on cooperation in the field of combating the spread of Coronavirus infection."
In this context, Maduro noted the start of supplies of the Russian "Sputnik V" vaccine to Venezuela this month.
Maduro also briefed Putin, according to the statement, on "the current conditions in the republic, including the pressures exerted on Venezuela from abroad."
During the discussion of the bilateral agenda, the two sides affirmed the common determination to promote mutually beneficial relations in various fields.
Venezuela faces US interference in its internal affairs in an attempt to destabilize it by tightening economic and financial sanctions and supporting right-wing forces in an effort to revive Washington's plans to dominate this country.
