Another person was sentenced for violating the quarantine order. The Department of Health announced that a 53-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman had left the quarantine site during the quarantine period for violating the "Regulations on Compulsory Quarantine of Certain Arrivals" (Chapter 599C). The first case involved a 53-year-old man who was issued a compulsory quarantine order earlier and must undergo compulsory quarantine at home for 14 days.

However, before the expiry of the quarantine order, the man left his quarantine site on July 5 last year without reasonable excuse and without the permission of authorized personnel.

He was charged with violating regulations 8(1) and 8(5) and was sentenced to two weeks' imprisonment in the Magistrates' Court today.

The two violated the compulsory quarantine order and were sentenced to two weeks and 13 days in imprisonment respectively.

As for the second case, which involved a 47-year-old woman who left her quarantine site without authorization on January 7 this year, she was also charged with violating regulations 8(1) and 8(5). Sentenced to immediate imprisonment for 13 days.

A spokesperson for the Department of Health emphasized that the sentence can give the society very clear information, pointing out that violating the quarantine order is a criminal offence. The government will not tolerate those who violate the Regulations and strictly reminds the public to abide by the Regulations.

As of today, a total of 112 people have been convicted by the court for violating the quarantine order, sentenced to immediate imprisonment for up to 14 weeks, or fined up to 15,000 yuan.

The spokesperson reiterated that the Department of Health will definitely follow up any violation of relevant regulations.
