The Ocean Park Conservation Fund of Hong Kong received a report today (19th) to follow up a case of cetacean stranding. A sub-adult finless porpoise with a length of 156 cm was found in East Bay of Cheung Chau. The sex of the sub-adult finless porpoise has yet to be determined. The body was severely decomposed at the time of discovery.
Earlier today, the Conservation Fund brought the finless porpoise back to the Ocean Park for detailed autopsy and laboratory tests.
This is the ninth case of a cetacean stranded this year.

The Hong Kong Ocean Park Conservation Fund urges the public to call the 1823 hotline if suspected cases of whales, dolphins and sharks are stranded, and provide the time, location, and photos of the stranding, so that the action team can arrive at the scene as soon as possible to follow up.
