Hakim Berrebouh was the subject of an "

" as part of a rogatory commission opened since early 2020 for "

international drug trafficking

" , detailed the prosecution to AFP.

"

This is a very good first international cooperation carried out by the authorities of the United Arab Emirates,

" said Marseille prosecutor Dominique Laurens to AFP.

According to

, Hakim Berrebouh had left France after an assassination attempt and shortly after the murder of his brother Mehdi in 2014. After taking up residence in Morocco, he had moved to Dubai for a few months, according to the regional daily.

In April 2014, his brother was killed at the Kalashnikov in broad daylight on the A7 motorway in Marseille when he had just released from prison.

According to the investigators, this murder was one of the many bloody episodes of hatred between two family "clans", the Berrebouh and the Tir on one side, the Remadnia on the other, cousins from the same Algerian region in the Aurès fighting for the control of drug trafficking in housing estates in the northern districts of Marseille.
