Entering the Year of the Ox, the first tropical cyclone is approaching Hong Kong!

The Observatory predicts that the tropical storm "Dujuan", which is now gathering in the southeast of Manila, will traverse the waters east of the Philippines. Next Sunday (21st) it will escalate into a severe tropical storm and gradually approach the 800km range of Hong Kong, but its intensity will gradually weaken. It is expected to have little impact on Hong Kong.

However, a fresh to strong easterly airflow reached the south China coast in the middle of next week. The Observatory expects that there will be rain in Hong Kong next Wednesday (24th). The offshore winds reached level 6 on the same day, and the wind force reached No. 3 typhoon. The rainy days are expected to last until next weekend.

"Dujuan" will cross the waters east of the Philippines in the next two or three days.

At 12 noon, tropical storm "Dujuan" will gather about 1,360 kilometers southeast of Manila. It is expected to move slowly to the west-southwest and cross the waters east of the Philippines.

The Observatory predicts that the "Cuckoo" will cross the seas east of the Philippines in the next two or three days and move roughly to the central and southern Philippines. It will escalate into a severe tropical storm next Sunday, or enter the central South China Sea in the middle of next week, and gradually weaken and dissipate. It is expected that it has not reached the 800 km range of Hong Kong and has weakened into a tropical depression with limited impact on Hong Kong.

Looking back at the weather in Hong Kong, the northeast monsoon affecting Guangdong will ease from the weekend to the beginning of next week. It will be generally fine and warm during the day.

The Observatory predicts that Hong Kong will continue to heat up in the next few days. The highest temperature in the urban area will reach 25 degrees next Monday (22nd). At first, visibility in some areas will be low. Warm and sunny weather is expected to continue until next Tuesday.

Rain on Lantern Festival next Friday

However, a fresh to strong easterly airstream reached the coast of South China in the middle of next week, and Hong Kong began to usher in a few showers. It is expected that the temperature will drop slightly after bidding farewell to sunny days next Wednesday. The temperature in the urban area will range from 18 to 22 degrees. When the coastal wind reaches level 6, it will reach the wind of Typhoon No. 3. It is expected that the cloudy and rainy weather will continue until next Saturday, which means that the Lantern Festival next Friday (26th) will be spent in rainy weather.
