The Maritimes continue
Without shining, the Stade Rochelais provided the essentials and controlled the Stade Français (16-11), this Saturday.
Stronger, more efficient.
This match was not a big offensive festival, rather a tough fight.
Romain Sazy and his teammates remain unbeaten at home with a ninth victory in their den.
They temporarily take the lead of the Top 14, ahead of Racing 92 and Toulouse.
La Rochelle is solid this season.
A candidate declared for the title.
Even jostled, La Rochelle did not waver.
The Parisians did not fail this time
The defeat conceded in La Rochelle is bitter for the Parisians.
Admittedly, their game was not flamboyant, admittedly there were tons of slag or bad choices, the conquest pitched, but the players of Gonzalo Quesada never gave up and destabilized the Rochelais usually more sovereign at home.
They did not take the tide like in Montpellier (31-6) or Bordeaux-Bègles (44-6) but it is when a third defeat outside in a row.
Except that the state of mind was there.
More than during the last outings… Jonathan Danty struggled but it was not enough.
The defensive bonus point won at the end of the match (which is not easy for Deflandre) came to reward Parisian efforts.
Logic.

Flops
Sanchez, maestro in check
After having served his suspension of three weeks after his expulsion (very severe) against Toulon, the Argentinian opener made his return as holder at the opening and he was struggling to Marcel-Deflandre.
A game to forget for the master at playing Pumas.
He was totally failing in his kicking game and in his role as scorer (0/3).
Difficult in these conditions to exist for his team.
The Argentinian has also given way to Segonds from the 54th minute ... In check.
Paris still travels badly and remains under pressure
The away matches follow one another and are similar for the Stade Français Paris.
On Saturday, the capital club conceded an eighth consecutive defeat away from its bases.
Admittedly, La Rochelle is intractable at home but Gonzalo Quesada's players were too unruly (what a stupid yellow card for Matera!), Jostled in scrum to make a shot.
Despite some flashes, like this try against Veainu (44th), Paris lacked consistency and inspiration and relied tirelessly on Danty's strike force in midfield.
Too limited.
The “Pink Soldiers” will now receive Jean-Bouin three times over the next four days.
Points to catch up and no room for error.
