Former Cagliari and national team player Andrea Cossu, 41, was hospitalized in serious condition at the Brotzu hospital for injuries sustained in the road accident that took place this evening on state road 554 in the Cagliari hinterland.

The former footballer arrived at the hospital with a red code assigned.

Cossu, who was traveling in his own car - a Porsche - was thrown out of the cockpit.

The municipal police of Selargius are working to reconstruct in detail the dynamics of the accident involving the former player and current manager of Cagliari Calcio and former player of the national team, Andrea Cossu.

The men coordinated by commander Marco Cantori are carrying out all the surveys.

The accident occurred along the state road 554 at via Nenni.

Andrea Cossu was traveling aboard a Porsche when, for unknown reasons, he lost control and initially ended up off-road, covering about 300 meters.

The car then got back onto the road and overturned several times.

The former player would have been thrown out of the vehicle's cockpit.

The car then finished its run against the guard rail.

On the spot, in addition to the officers of the municipal police of Selargius, the firefighters, 118 and the carabinieri of the Quartu Sant'Elena Company also intervened.

Cossu, rushed to Brotzu hospital, was subjected to medical checks and was hospitalized in critical but stable conditions in the intensive care unit.
