ERC asks to investigate if there have been cases of malpractice in the Mossos | Colau rejects the damage caused in the altercations and supports the police

The demonstration in Barcelona protesting the imprisonment of rapper Pablo Hasél has led to attacks on shops, vandalism and riots, for the fifth consecutive day. Some 6,000 people, according to the Guardia Urbana, have gathered in the Plaza de la Universidad and have started a march through the city. Several shops on Paseo de Gracia have been attacked, as well as the Barcelona Stock Exchange and the Palau de la Música. In Madrid, some 200 people have gathered to express their support for Hasél, with a banner calling for his release and slogans against the police and the press. ERC has asked the Department of the Interior to open an investigation to determine whether there have been cases of malpractice in the body of the Mossos d'Esquadra for their actions in the protests that have taken place in Catalonia this week. In a statement, ERC reiterates its "absolute rejection" of the sentence against Hasél "because it violates freedom of expression", while asking the Ministry of the Interior, in the hands of its so far JxCat government partners, an investigation " agile and diligent ”on the actions of the Mossos to quell the protests. On Friday the protesters formed fire barricades and threw stones and bottles at the Mossos in Barcelona and Girona. The mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, said this Saturday that "defending freedom of expression does not justify in any way" the destruction and attacks caused in the city, and has expressed her support for the security forces.
