Donations are welcome and important all year round.

Now we have first taken stock of our light readers' aid organization.

The result?

Overwhelming!

We say thank you!

District - An eventful year lies behind us.

The corona pandemic has also led to a turning point in the Erding district, turning many things into difficulties.

Despite all the restrictions, there is great cohesion.

This is proven once again by the readers' aid organization “Light in the Hearts” of the local newspaper.

This year, too, the total donation is enormous: 205,060 euros were raised thanks to the generosity of our readers.

The second highest result in its history.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

For 14 years, “Licht in die Herzen” has been committed to helping the needy and the sick in the Erding district.

In the past few months they have needed help more than ever.

Because it has been shown: Corona hits us all, but disadvantaged, sick and socially weak people particularly hard.

To support them, we have set up a strong network and work together with many neighborhood helpers, associations and social institutions.

They know what people need, what concerns they have and how to help quickly and unbureaucratically.

"Light in the heart" helps.

Be it after the death of a family member, a serious illness or the loss of a job.

All of this brings not only suffering and disappointment, but also financial burdens.

The corona pandemic has exacerbated the situation.

The short-time work allowance protects many from unemployment, but is often not enough to survive.

Many had to apply for Hartz IV.

The new poverty is also experienced by the Caritas social and debt advisors in the district, who support these families - and, for example, save them from homelessness.

They also support single parents who can hardly make ends meet financially or who are overwhelmed with their everyday lives.

There is also great demand for the food deliveries offered by some neighborhood helpers in the district and the Red Cross in Erding.

Especially at a time when many people, especially if they belong to the risk group, had to reduce their social contacts, this offer finds hundreds of buyers.

The Wörth-Hörlkofen neighborhood aid alone delivered 3,500 inexpensive meals in 2020.

Even those who could not afford this service did not go away empty-handed.

"Light in the hearts" made sure of that.

Visiting and driving services, co-payments for medication or other aids that health insurances do not cover, could also be made possible by the readers' aid organization.

Our readers were particularly moved by the fate of Daniela Schaurer (42) from Reichenkirchen.

The mother of three children suffers from lung cancer and knows: “For me, it's all about time.” Our readers have made it possible for her to spend this time with the family free of financial worries.

Daniela Schaurer is infinitely grateful for this.

The Christophorus Hospice Association and the Palliative Team Erding can also help people to spend their last days in dignity thanks to “Licht in die Herzen”.

And the children and young people at the St. Nikolaus special needs day care center are looking forward to new play equipment and sound instruments.

Many institutions are more dependent than ever on support, because the corona pandemic made most events and celebrations, at which money was usually collected or targeted donations, impossible.

And although many clubs had to forego parties, they made donations.

One example is the Pastetten fire brigade, which once again entrusted the proceeds of their Santa Claus service to “light in the hearts”.

A host family gave the inventory of their closed guest house in exchange for donations for "Light in the Heart".

Lion fans have sewn protective masks out of bed linen and distributed them.

Local politicians made their attendance fees available,

Every donation counts.

For example, birthday children have given up presents and companies have given up customer presents.

It is particularly touching when the bereaved in obituary notices - instead of flowers and wreaths - call for donations for our readers' aid organization.

In addition, many companies and banks have again shown themselves to be very generous.

They are rooted in the district and want to express their solidarity.

We promise that every euro will go to those in need.

Because there are no administrative costs.

We thank everyone who supports us.

The “Light in the Hearts” campaign continues because help is needed all year round.

Light in the hearts: The readers' aid organization of the Erdinger / Dorfener Anzeiger supports citizens in the district who are in need through no fault of their own.

Donations can be made to the account (number 17 111) at Sparkasse Erding.

Account holder: Zeitungsverlag Oberbayern.

IBAN: DE54 7005 1995 0000 0171 11. Donation receipts can be issued on request.

Please note this with your address on the transfer slip.
