Hundreds of volunteers clean the tar that covered the beaches: "Severe environmental disaster"
Volunteers at a number of councils along the coast came to help dispose of the viscous liquid that caused ecological damage and harmed the animals.
"Politicians are called to stop blabbering on and come here to help us," they said.
In addition, the Coastal Division of the Haifa Municipality identified oil stains hundreds of meters from the shore and bathing was prohibited

Hundreds of volunteers from a number of regional councils in the coastal area went out today (Saturday) to help with efforts to clean up the tarred beaches.
They asked citizens and elected officials to assist in the clean-up operations and called the event an "ecological disaster."
"Politicians are called to stop blabbering on about knowing and coming here to help us. There is a serious environmental event here that we have never known before. Come and help us," said Sharon Carmel, chairman of the Association of Cities and Hof Carmel Regional Council Chairman Asif Isaac.
