Good news in the fight against Corona: A study published by the American health company Mayo Clinic shows that Pfizer and Moderna's corona vaccines prevent not only serious illness but also infection with the virus.
The study, conducted on 31,000 vaccine recipients in four different states in the United States, found that the vaccines of the two U.S. drug companies prevented infection by 75% in the three weeks after the first vaccine dose and 89% three weeks after receiving the second dose of the vaccine.
The study indicates that vaccine recipients are also less contagious at a significant rate for the rest of the population, but further research is needed to test this. The study has not yet been peer-reviewed, as is customary in the scientific world, but it is a preliminary indication of the ability of vaccines to prevent infection with the coronavirus and thus aid in its eradication.
