Entering the Year of the Ox, Hong Kong may rarely experience tropical cyclones during the Chinese New Year.

According to the Observatory, the tropical cyclone "Dujuan" will traverse the central part of the Philippines in the next two or three days and may enter the central and southern South China Sea in the middle of next week. However, it has gradually dissipated without entering the 800 kilometers of Hong Kong.

In Hong Kong next Wednesday (24th), it will be mostly cloudy, with one or two light rains in the morning and evening, and offshore wind will occasionally reach level 6, which is the No. 3 typhoon.

According to the Central Meteorological Observatory of the Mainland, the "Cuckoo" will make landfall on the southeastern coast of the Philippines around noon tomorrow (21st), and then pass through the central and southern parts of the Philippines. Weakened and dissipated, and there will be no impact on the inland coastal areas in the next two days.

"Rhododendron" is a common annual flower. Before the Lantern Festival on the fifteenth day of the first month, the tropical cyclone "Rhododendron" may enter the South China Sea for the festival.

According to the Observatory, at 10 am today (20th), Tropical Storm Dujuan gathered about 1,370 kilometers southeast of Manila. It is expected to move slowly at first, and later move northwestward at a speed of about 16 kilometers per hour, crossing the waters east of the Philippines.

It is expected that in the next two or three days, the weather in Guangdong will be generally fine and warm during the day.

It is expected that a fresh to strong easterly airstream will reach the coast of Guangdong in the middle of next week. There will be more cloud cover in this area.

In addition, the tropical cyclone Rhododendron will cross the central part of the Philippines in the next two or three days.

Rhododendron may enter the central and southern South China Sea in the middle of next week and gradually dissipate.

According to the tropical cyclone path forecast from the Observatory, Dujuan is expected to cross the Philippines next Wednesday (24th) and drop into a tropical depression into the South China Sea; it weakens into a low pressure area and dissipates again next Thursday (25th).

The Mainland Central Meteorological Observatory predicts that the cuckoo will move to the northwest at a speed of about 14 kilometers per hour and will land on the southeastern coast of the Philippines at around noon tomorrow.

The European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF) and the US Global Forecast System (GFS) also predicted that Dujuan will land in the Philippines tomorrow, then cross the Philippines into the South China Sea on Tuesday (23), and dissipate next Wednesday.

ECMWF material Rhododendron has a minimum central pressure of 1,000hPa, which is a tropical depression.

Regarding the weather in Hong Kong, the Observatory said that the dry northeast monsoon is bringing generally sunny weather to southern China. It is expected that the weather will be fine and dry today, and the day will be warm with slight to gentle easterly winds.

Looking forward to the next two or three days, it will remain sunny and warm during the day.

The middle of next week will be mostly cloudy with a few rain patches.

Next Friday (26th) is the Lantern Festival on the 15th of the first month. The Observatory predicts that there will be sunshine for a short period of time and mist in the morning.

The temperature in the urban area ranges from 20 to 25 degrees, which is expected to be the warmest Lantern Festival in 11 years since it recorded 26.2 degrees in 2010.

The northeast monsoon hits the Observatory on Thursday. It is expected that "Human Day" will turn cooler and cloudy and rainy on the eve of the Lantern Festival
