Jetzendorf - A 67-year-old man from Jetzendorf died of serious injuries after the fire in a garden house.
On Friday a fire broke out in the garden house between Jetzendorf and Volkersdorf.
According to the police, negligent handling of flammable liquids is a possible cause.
The garden house owner suffered severe burns and died in hospital.
Shortly before 5 p.m., two walkers noticed that smoke was emerging from a garden shed on a green area above state road 2337 between Jetzendorf and Volkersdorf.
Shortly afterwards, the garden house was already in full fire, as the police headquarters of Upper Bavaria-North explains in a press release.
While one of the walkers dialed the emergency number, the other looked after the garden house owner.
At this point he was already in front of the hut and tried to extinguish the fire despite obviously serious burn injuries.
One of the men managed to pull the injured man, who was obviously in shock, away from the fire and bring him to safety.
Until the emergency services arrived, he provided the 67-year-old with first aid together with a passer-by who had come along in the meantime.
The garden house owner was then flown with a rescue helicopter to a Munich clinic for further medical care.
But his injuries were too severe: the police announced yesterday, Sunday, that the 67-year-old had died in the meantime.
The fire was extinguished by the fire brigades from Petershausen and Jetzendorf.
The garden house was completely destroyed.
The property damage is around 2000 euros.
According to the findings of the fire investigators of the Ingolstadt criminal police, the fire broke out inside the garden house.
The possible cause is negligent handling of flammable liquids.
There are currently no indications of outside interference or deliberate action, according to the police.
