Family members of Malcolm X, one of the most prominent and controversial civil rights activists in the United States, are demanding a reopening of the assassination attempt on his life.

This after they revealed yesterday (Saturday) a letter written by a former undercover cop, who is no longer alive, in which he claimed that the New York police and the FBI were behind the murder of Malcolm X in 1965 before a speech that was supposed to be given in a ballroom in the city, and not three members of the Islamic Nation. "Who were convicted of the fatal shooting.

His cop attributed to the letter is Raymond Wood, who worked for the NYPD, and his cousin Reggie joined some of Malcolm Ax's daughters while showing the letter where the assassination hall used to be.

According to the letter, Raymond Wood's commanders pressured him to seduce two of Malcolm X's security personnel to break the law and so they were arrested days before the fatal shooting.

He said their arrests prevented them from conducting security at the entrance to the courtroom and it was part of a New York police and FBI conspiracy against Malcolm X.

"Under the instructions of activists, I have been told to encourage leaders and members of civil rights movements to commit crimes," Wood wrote.

Thoroughly investigate any evidence "

In the years since the assassination, some historians and experts have believed that the wrong people were convicted in the affair.

Last year, the Manhattan Prosecution Bureau announced a re-examination of the convicts in the case, and it said in response to the press conference yesterday that the investigation is still under investigation.

In a separate statement, New York City police said they had provided the Manhattan prosecution with all the relevant documents for the case in its possession, and that it "is still committed to assisting in this investigation in any way."

The FBI declined to comment.

Aisha Shabaz, daughter of Malcolm X, said she always felt uncertain about the circumstances of her father's death.

"Any evidence that provides a broader understanding of the truth behind this horrific tragedy should be thoroughly investigated," she said at the news conference.

Malcolm X, born Malcolm Little and also known as al-Hajj Malek a-Shabaz, rose to prominence as the spokesman for the Nation of Islam, an African-American Muslim organization that preached black separatism.

He was a member of it for about a decade, until he split from it in 1964 and moderated some of his extremist views, such as supporting racial segregation.
