Since then, a warning has been in effect for the 3-series models from the production period from July 2004 to June 2012 due to an increased risk of fire.
Now it was decided to recall the almost 430,000 cars and have the affected parts repaired or exchanged in the authorized workshops.
The model codes E90 to E93 are affected.

The exact reason for the callback * is the plug connection from the wiring harness to the fan regulator of the heating and air conditioning system.
This could overheat due to fretting corrosion, said the company spokeswoman.
A possible consequence of this could be a short circuit or melting of the plug contact.
“In very rare cases”, a “thermal event” could also occur - even when vehicles are parked.

A repair at the authorized dealer should take a maximum of one hour.
The type of repair of the connector depends on the test result.
"If necessary, the fan regulator will also be replaced," announced the spokeswoman.
There are three different promotion codes for the current callback *: “0061830500”, “0061660400” or “0061830400”.
There were probably similar abnormalities and similar recalls with other models.
The spokeswoman admitted that there had already been actions in various markets “due to various field situations and different regulatory requirements”.
This affected vehicles of the 1 series (E8x) and the models X5 and X6 (E7x).
The current promotion codes only apply to the 3 series (E9x).
A further 115,000 cars are affected by the campaign abroad.

The spokeswoman confirmed that there is currently no need for action with the other series.
However, one continues to observe the home market “in order to be able to react accordingly to possible abnormalities”.
In the USA and Canada, the Munich-based company has already recalled around 830,000 cars to the workshops since mid-2018 because of the same problem.
