Miesbach - The Miesbach city council has given the green light for the establishment of a youth parliament.
The decision in principle was passed with a large majority with two votes against.
The trigger for this was the youth citizens' meeting in November 2020. As reported, it was suggested to initiate a youth parliament, such as the new twin town of Marseillan in southern France or the city of Erding and 75 other municipalities in Bavaria.
Ideally with eight to twelve people who can also implement projects themselves.
As a result, the SPD and Free Voters supported this application with their own, which has now been dealt with.
The decision in principle is the starting signal for developing the framework.
This task is carried out by family officer Malin Friese (Greens) and youth officer Christian Mittermaier (CSU) in cooperation with the administration.
The connection to the city council is planned through an advisory function.
Markus Seemüller (FWG) welcomed the introduction of a youth parliament.
In 2015, it was his first application as a council member to set up such a youth representative.
But this was rejected with 9:14 votes.
Paul Fertl (SPD) also found that it is good for young people to have their own mouthpiece.
So that the youth parliament can now function well, the construct of rules, rights and also a budget must be well worked out.
"It is important to take this instrument seriously," stated Christian Mittermaier.
The elaboration is full of possibilities and details, added Friese.
"I'm looking forward to this process."
