Now that the reproductive cycle begins for the birds, it is a good time to place a nest box where they can nest.
This is how Luis Martínez, biologist and technician of the Spanish Ornithological Society (SEO) explains it, who in this video explains everything there is to know to put up a birdhouse.
"Actually, it is never a bad time to put a nest box, because if the birds do not occupy it this year it can be used for the next one," the ornithologist added.

The reason why these boxes are so important is because they allow troglodyte birds (those that only build their nests and lay their eggs in holes in trees) to fulfill the reproductive cycle in places where there is very young or subject trees. pruning.
For a nest box to be effective, it must meet several characteristics.
“The nest boxes that we normally see in gardening and outdoor stores are not valid,” explains Martínez.
First, they must be made of wood, with screws instead of nails and with a hole adapted to the size of the species of bird that will use it.
When it comes to hanging it, it cannot be from just any tree, since the branches must meet certain characteristics.
"There is nothing more comforting than seeing that you are helping a new generation of birds," says the ornithologist.
