About 63 million doses of the covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the United States, according to data released Sunday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, per its acronym in English)

The CDC reported that 63,090,634 total doses have been administered, about 83% of the 75,204,965 doses distributed.

That's roughly 1.8 million more reported doses administered since yesterday Saturday.

(The doses administered yesterday were 61,289,500).

About 43.6 million people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and more than 18.8 million people have been fully vaccinated, CDC data shows.

It is possible that the data released by the CDC is out of date and that there were doses not included on the day of the report.

About half a million deaths

It's terrible, Dana, it's really horrible.

It's a historic thing, it's nothing like what we've been through in the last 102 years since the 1918 influenza pandemic. People, decades from now, Dana, are going to talk about this as a terribly historic milestone, you know, in the history of this country to have so many people who have died of a respiratory infection, "he said.

"It really is a terrible situation that we have been through, and that we are still going through and that is why we continue to insist on continuing with public health measures, because we do not want this to be much worse than it already is."
