Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki stressed that the international community’s failure to take clear stances and the absence of international accountability encourages the Israeli occupation to persist in its crimes against the Palestinians.

Al-Maliki clarified during his speech at the 46th session of the Human Rights Council via video today that the occupation continues its attacks and violations against the Palestinian people, their land and their sanctities, especially with regard to the establishment of settlements through the seizure of more Palestinian lands with the aim of Judaizing them and undermining their right to life by desecrating places of worship and systematic killings And the daily arrest campaigns, especially children, and denying them basic rights such as the right to health and education.

Al-Maliki pointed out that the occupation is exploiting the Corona pandemic to consolidate its settlement colonization, as it prevented the entry of necessary vaccines into the occupied Palestinian territory, especially into the besieged Gaza Strip, throwing off the repeated calls from international institutions to give priority to humanitarian principles and international law.

Al-Maliki stressed the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and adhere to the principles and rules of international law and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination, independence and return, and to activate and impose accountability and hold the occupation accountable for its crimes.

Al-Maliki welcomed the recent decision of the International Criminal Court confirming its jurisdiction and territorial jurisdiction over the occupied Palestinian territory, including Jerusalem, calling for an urgent announcement of the opening of a criminal investigation into war crimes and crimes against humanity committed and committed by the occupation in the occupied Palestinian state.
