It's a simple, fair, local reform, made for our most modest citizens.
It is extremely important that women who are in complicated situations know that they can cross the door of the CAF to reduce this type of difficulty,
”Dupond-Moretti told the press during a trip with Véran at the Caisse. family allowances (CAF) from Lyon Part-Dieu.
Since the beginning of January, the government has set up a "
public maintenance service
», Which allows separated couples to entrust the CAF or Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) with an intermediary role for the payment of these pensions.
It is these organizations that collect the pension, pay it to the ex-spouse and take care of the recovery in the event of non-payment and, in the meantime, pay the beneficiary a family support allowance (ASF) of 116 euros per child.
This device aims to limit unpaid bills, a situation that affects 350,000 separated parents, 85% of mothers.
The system also makes it possible not to give the ex-spouse his contact details, which is essential in the event of harassment.
"
This reform allows any couple who separate, whether they experience a conflict or separate on good terms, to ensure that there is no longer any question of money between them
" , praised Véran, evoking "
a simple, fast and effective solution
".
"
It is a reform which has no flaws, the only flaw it would have is if the French did not know that it exists,
" he continued.
Of the 900,000 alimony payments in France, 300,000 are badly paid, according to Véran, who announced an “
ambitious
”
objective
of 230,000 beneficiary families by the end of 2022. “
To date we have more than 18,000 cases already filed
”, a- he added.
The system started last October, but since January 1 it has been extended to all parents who request it, including those who have not yet experienced unpaid debts.
It then remains in place until the child is 18 years old.
After 42 million euros in 2020, the cost of this device inspired by Quebec is estimated at 85 million in 2021 then 122 million per year from 2022. Some 450 additional agents must be recruited in the CAF, according to the government.
