Partial containment, shops: what to remember from restrictive measures in the Alpes-Maritimes

Faced with the deterioration of health indicators, the Alpes-Maritimes are moving to partial and localized confinement for the next two weekends.


Containment measures will be implemented for the next two weekends in the municipalities along the Alpes-Maritimes coast to fight against the spread of Covid-19, prefect Bernard Gonzalez announced on Monday.

Such a localized decision is a first since the start of the health crisis in the metropolitan area.

  • Containment of the Alpes-Maritimes coast from Friday 6 p.m. until Monday 6 a.m.

The confinement announced this Monday concerns the coastal urban area, from Menton to Théoule-sur-Mer, from Friday evening, 6 p.m., until Monday morning, 6 a.m.

A localized application, in this area which represents "

90% of the population of the department

", which makes it the main place of contamination.

The prefect notably expressed his desire to spare the populations of the valleys hard hit by storm Alex.

The framework applied will look like last March.

Outings will be authorized for people with a certificate and for exceptional reasons.

These outings will be possible to shop for food, to go to the doctor, take out his pet, play sports or go for walks.

These remain limited to a period of one hour, within a radius of 5 km around his home.

  • Shops of more than 5,000 m2 closed

Shops and shopping malls of more than 5,000 m2 will be closed in the Alpes-Maritimes, from tomorrow, that is to say from Tuesday February 23.

Exception made for food stores and pharmacies.

For shops over 400 m2, the gauge will drop from 10 to 15 m2 per visitor.

The prefect called for the barrier gestures to be applied "very strictly".

He notably asked “the business operators” concerned “to equip themselves with a Covid mediator”, who will be responsible for enforcing the rules.

  • Controls at Alpes-Maritimes airports and at the Italian border "reinforced"

Controls at Alpes-Maritimes airports and at the Italian border will also be stepped up.

For foreign travelers arriving at airports in the department, there will be PCR tests that can be performed on entire flights chosen at random.

During the press briefing, an “acceleration” of the vaccination campaign in the department was also announced, where approximately 4,500 doses of the Pfizer vaccine must be received in the coming days, or 1,000 more than what the authorities had already promised. during the visit of Minister of Health Olivier Véran to Nice on Saturday.

Finally, the possibility of being vaccinated will be offered to people aged 59 to 64 and suffering from comorbidities: with this objective, many doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine must be sent to the Alpes-Maritimes soon, Bernard Gonzalez added. .
