Last year, the LGBT Association received 2,696 reports of incidents of hatred and violence against members of the community, according to a report published this morning (Monday) by the association.

This is a 27% increase in reports received compared to 2019.

The report also shows that 25% of the reported incidents occurred in the area close to the complainants' house (compared to 8% last year) and that a case of Btophobia occurred in 2020 every three hours compared to every four hours last year.

According to the report, 28% of reported injuries occurred within the family - 315 young men and women members of the community were forced to leave their homes due to prolonged harassment or abuse, an increase of 16% compared to 2019.

The transition to online learning due to the Corona epidemic has also hurt community members, with it reported that about 7% of all reports complained of by teens to LGBT people occurred in the school environment, whether in virtual or physical classes, unlike in 2019, where it stood The figure is about 5%.

According to the Nir Katz Reporting Center, which was killed in this year's terrorist attack in Bernoir in 2009, 4% of all reports last year were of discrimination and bopophobia in the workplace, compared to 3% in 2019. The center cited the story of a homosexual. His foreman “made me mock and joke behind my back constantly and consistently against the background of my sexual orientation only.

It is accompanied by bites, imitations, statements and explicit reference to my sexuality, performed in front of employees and customers. "

The director general of the Association for the LGBT, Ohad Hezki: "The ugly hatred towards the proud community has reached new heights this year, when it receives legitimacy from the country's top officials. Hatred kills and injures the body and mind of thousands of young men and women who just want to be who they are. The lives of thousands of LGBT people who want to live in security and dignity.

While Israeli governments have abandoned the proud community in granting basic rights and safeguarding our lives and security, hatred is rampant - and elected officials from across the political spectrum must stop it, and soon.

As a strong community, we will continue to fight Bophobia until it is completely eradicated. We ask anyone who has experienced a Bophobia case to contact us, reporting can save lives. "

The data in the report refer to reports received at the Nir Katz Association's Bophobia Reporting Center and in the Proud Community Organizations during 2020. For reporting on any Bophobia LGBT case, please contact the Association's Nir Katz Reporting Center for LGBT on the Association's website. .

The association's attention line, "There is someone to talk to", operates on Sundays-Thursdays from 10:30 pm to 7:30 pm by calling 03-6205591 or through the WhatsApp app at 058-6205591.
