The muscular arrest on June 16, 2020 of Farida C., a 51-year-old nurse working at the Paul-Brousse hospital in Villejuif (Val-de-Marne), aroused the anger of the left-wing opposition and forced the executive to step up to defend the action of the police.

On the videos relayed at the time on social networks and broadcast to the audience, the nurse in a white coat is seen throwing projectiles in the direction of the police, a few minutes before being arrested without care against a backdrop of clashes at the arrival of the procession on the Esplanade des Invalides.

It was an oversized reaction that was not thought out,

” said Farida C. at the helm.

"

We were three months from the (start of the) Covid pandemic, I was exhausted, it was not against the police that I had thrown the bitumen, it was symbolic

".

My hands don't hurt, they've been healing for 20 years,

” she adds.

Many supporters of Farida C. had made the trip for this trial.

In view of the crowds, the court opted at the last minute for a larger courtroom, allowing everyone to be accommodated while respecting health rules.

Outside the courthouse, a few dozen people gathered in the early morning at the call of the CGT and Solidaires to demand the "

total release

" of the nurse.

The decision will be known on May 3.
