The government is meeting tonight (Monday) to discuss the issue of reducing incoming flights to Israel and abolishing the obligation to isolate hotels.

Deputy Attorney General Raz Nazri clarified that there are problems in limiting the number of passengers entering because some Israelis will want to return to vote in the upcoming elections.

Earlier, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Transport Minister Miri Regev and Health Minister Yuli Edelstein agreed that entry into Israel would be limited to 200 citizens per day starting next week, except in urgent humanitarian cases.

This, following the decision of the Constitution Committee not to extend the obligation of isolation in hotels that will expire tonight at midnight.

The restriction of entry will apply until a technological solution is found or the isolation obligation in hotels for returnees from abroad is restored, due to the fear of corona mutations entering Israeli territory. This is a significant change in policy.
