They died in the fight against the Nazi terror: 78 years ago today, Christoph Probst was beheaded together with Hans and Sophie Scholl in Munich-Stadelheim.
The memory of the resistance fighters lives on - also in the Murnau middle school.
Since 2016 it has been named after Probst, who was born on the Staffelsee.
The memory of him could soon be expanded to include fences that have historical significance.

- Because on July 23, 1942, Probst met his fellow students at the same iron fence.
The medical students left on that day from Munich's Ostbahnhof to the medical service on the Eastern Front.
Probst, who was assigned to another company, was not one of those leaving.
Like Sophie Scholl, he came to Orleansstrasse to say goodbye to his friends.
Fellow student Jürgen Wittenstein pressed the resolver.

"Only in connection with these photos", explains Hildegard Kronawitter, does the fence acquire a special value.
The head of the White Rose Foundation therefore supports the plan to create a memorial site in Haidhausen.

Inquiries from all over Germany have already been received.

"We think the idea is very good," says Rector Martina Weber.
“To find an appropriate and worthy place for part of the fence would be an honor for our entire school community.” She can very well imagine the steles “as another place of encounter and remembrance for all of us”.

It will take some time before the fence is dismantled: it will have to give way to the Orleanshöfen, which will be built as a modern office and residential complex by 2028.
Kronawitter wants to use the time to coordinate the request for the steles with the city.

The members of the White Rose had denounced the atrocities of the Nazi regime in several leaflets - distributed thousands of times - and urged their fellow men to finally open their eyes.
Probst was the initiator of the group and less of an activist.
The Murnauer, who had three children with his wife Hertha, kept his family in the background.
Tragic: Hans Scholl, who was arrested with his sister Sophie on February 18, 1943, had the handwritten draft of the seventh leaflet with him, written by Probst.
It was the death sentence for Probst: when he was brought to the executioner almost eight decades ago today, he was only 23 years old.
