The Bavarian car manufacturer BMW is pushing its electric offensive with power.

For the top dog Tesla, the competition will be much tougher in the future, warns CEO Oliver Zipse.

Munich - BMW * boss Oliver Zipse * assumes that the electric car offensive of the major automakers will take the pioneer Tesla air out of the sails.

"It will not be easy for Tesla to keep up the pace that we have seen so far, because the rest of the industry is moving forward quickly," said Zipse on Monday at the DLD All Stars innovation conference.

Unlike the established automakers, Tesla boss Elon Musk relied on electric cars early on.

With the general shift in the industry towards electromobility, Tesla became by far the most expensive car company on the stock exchange.

Tesla is currently building a plant near Berlin for the European market.

BMW boss: We want to build the greenest vehicles

BMW competes against Tesla with the new iX3 model, among other things.

“We have the ambition to build the“ greenest ”vehicles in our industry - from raw materials to supply chain and production to recycling,” said Zipse.

Battery production at suppliers runs entirely on green electricity and in-house production is CO2-neutral.

The DLD (Digital Life Design) conference organized by the Burda media group aims to build a bridge between technology, business and culture.

The three-day online event DLD All Stars, which started on Sunday, comes close to a digital version of the annual conferences in Munich.
