Facebook announced today (Tuesday) that it will lift the ban on media sharing by surfers in Australia.
This, after reaching an agreement with the government on amendments to the legislation that Australia is promoting, which should oblige Facebook and Google to pay Australian media outlets for the use of their stories.
Australian Treasury Treasurer Josh Freidenberg has confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Facebook on the amendments to the law.
The event is set to be a significant victory for Australia in terms of demanding payment from technology giants for the news they share.
Last week, Facebook blocked all of Australia's surfers' news pages due to legislative progress.

The revised version of the proposed legislation will allow digital platforms a month’s notice before taking action so that they can reach a more favorable agreement in terms of terms.
The agreement between the parties will make it possible to exclude Facebook from the law, as long as it signs payment agreements with the media.
