FOCUS - “Vacci'bus”, shuttles, ephemeral centers ... Le Figaro takes stock of the traveling vaccination campaign.

"

Vacci'bus

", ephemeral center in a gymnasium ... Loiret, Haut-Rhin, Allier, Territoire de Belfort and many other departments have launched mobile and ephemeral vaccination campaigns for about a month.

The goal ?

Allow the most isolated elderly people to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

What are these itinerant vaccinations?

How do you get there?

Le Figaro

takes stock.

What is traveling vaccination?

At the Ministry of Solidarity and Health, we talk about "

go to

" and "

bring to

" operations.

Indeed, in the general vaccination campaign, "

there is a public who will be away from the vaccination centers, in particular the elderly at home who have more difficulty in getting around

", explains an adviser to Olivier Véran at

Le Figaro.

.

Thus, the ministry has set up, in the same way as for vaccination in nursing homes, an organization to reach this population.

With local authorities, regional health agencies (ARS) and prefectures, and depending on the specificities of the departments, three means are used:

  • The "

    go-to

    " operation

The "

Vacci'bus

", these buses or fire trucks deployed in several municipalities in France, were launched in the Allier department on January 22.

This vaccination campaign offers nurses and doctors to travel to vaccinate the population concerned.

"

This format is particularly suitable for rural areas in which we have a very low population density

," explains the adviser of the Ministry of Solidarity and Health in

Le Figaro

.

In the case of an urban territory, a large part of the population will go to the center.

On the other hand, a few isolated people will not be able to go there.

"

They are generally listed in the municipal social action centers (CCAS) of local authorities

", continues the adviser.

These people are therefore targeted more precisely, in order to have an appointment with a professional at home.

  • The "

    bring back-to

    " operation

For the

“bring back to” operation,

communities are setting up shuttles that pick up the isolated person to the vaccination center.

In Bobigny, in Seine-Saint-Denis, shuttles are made available by certain departmental councils to pick up people in order to take them to the centers, details the ARS Ile-de-France in

Figaro.

Another example: residents of the most rural areas of the Center-Val de Loire region can use a transport system on demand and by reservation called “

Rémi +

” free of charge.

  • Ephemeral vaccination centers

In the Loir-et-Cher region, an ephemeral vaccination center opened on Monday February 22.

There are ten in France.

As the ARS indicates in

Figaro

, these centers are opening in order to reach vulnerable people without the possibility of displacement.

For example, in a gymnasium, for the duration of a weekend.

And, 28 days later, the same team will return to provide the second dose.

The management of appointments is managed by the municipalities.

How to make an appointment?

The Ministry of Solidarity and Health has put in place recommendations and the local authorities are in charge of the organization on the ground.

Depending on the departments, rural or urban, a different organization will be set up.

To make an appointment, the procedure is the same as in a traditional vaccination center: you must go to santé.fr, to Doctolib, or to call the toll-free number which is generally published on the departmental council website, or sent by La Poste.

For home vaccination, it's different.

"

These vaccines, for example, are not open to the Doctolib platform, because they are there only for the vaccination of people at home

", underlines the adviser to Olivier Véran.

In these cases, it's organized at the territorial level

,” he adds.

Among this territorial organization, the liberal city medicine, nurses and doctors, can also take the approach "

to go towards

", by working with the local authorities for the vaccinations of the elderly of the city or the department.

Sometimes doctors call their patient directly and offer them to come, explains the mayor of Gimel-les-Cascades, in Corrèze.

"

The elderly particularly appreciate this pattern, because they are with their doctor whom they trust,

" he says.

In some municipalities, the mayors, too, come to the aid of isolated people.

Marie-Thérèse Monvoisin, mayor of Saint-Séglin (Ille-et-Vilaine), assures HuffPost that she herself has called the inhabitants of her city in this situation.

She even says that she went to look for them, to take them to the "Vacci'bus".

For those who can move, assistance is also offered by the regions: free transport is made available.

In the Center-Val de Loire region, the entire transport network has for example been made available.

Since January 19, it is possible to board a train or bus for free by presenting proof of the vaccination appointment.
