(CNN Spanish) ––
The former interim president of Bolivia Jeanine Áñez abstained this Monday from testifying before the State Attorney General's Office in the department of Beni in a case that she classified as "a political persecution."
Áñez reported this Monday that she was summoned to give statements on "the alleged commission of the crime of disobedience to resolutions in defense and unconstitutionality actions."
This is indicated by the summons order of the Prosecutor's Office that the now candidate for the governorship of Beni published on her Twitter account.

The ex-president said that "it is a baseless case" and assured that she will remain in the region where she develops her campaign.
Áñez did not elaborate on the case.
The state channel Bolivia TV was the one that reported on Jeanine Áñez's refusal to testify before the Prosecutor's Office.
CNN tried to contact the Prosecutor's Office to learn more about the accusation, but has not received a response.
