In the middle of last month, the Chinese University of Hong Kong had a case of spreading powder to the security of CUHK. The police have arrested 5 people in connection with the case. Today (23rd) the police said that two more men were arrested, and 7 people have been arrested so far.
According to the police, after in-depth investigations, officers arrested two men aged 22 and 24 in Sha Tin District at about 7:30 this morning on suspicion of "illegal assembly" and "assault on others with intent to cause non-action".
The two arrested men are now being detained for investigation.
It is reported that the two arrested persons were both CUHK students and participated in the incident that day.
This morning, the student union secretary of CUHK Shanheng College will post on the social networking site that a college staff member was arrested by plainclothes police on the 6th floor of Ho Tim Hall this morning. It is reported that the staff member is a dormitory instructor.
The Student Union stated that more than 10 plainclothes police officers and several security personnel, accompanied by the Superintendent of He Tian Hall, entered the area of He Tian Hall with a search warrant approved by the court.

The case of spreading powder to CUHK security guards occurred at noon on January 11, at the CUHK security post in the square outside of Exit A of University Station. About 8 people in black pushed down the iron fence and scattered white powder to the security guards, and then scattered. A 20-year-old man named Cao was arrested on the spot.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to test the white powder. The powder was weakly acidic and did not react with water. The composition needs to be further tested.
After the incident, the police entered the Chinese University twice within half a month to search for evidence, and then arrested 5 people in the case. They were all released on bail earlier and reported back this month.
