Three brothers from the "Most Famous Polygamous Family in Canada" reveal what it's like to live in a cult alongside one father, 27 mothers (some of them minors) and 147 brothers.
Merlin and Murray Blackmore, both 19, and their 21-year-old brother Warren use Tiktok to reveal what their previous lives looked like in the religious cult that retired from the Mormon community and lived in British Columbia.
In one video, Merlin reveals that he has two brothers who were born that day to different mothers.
In another video Warren reveals that he is studying in a classroom with 19 members of his family, some of whom are his nephews.
The Blackmore family are the children of renowned polygamist and preacher Winston Blackmore, 64, who was sentenced in 2018 to six months probation and 150 hours of service after being found guilty of polygamy (multiple spouses) because he married 24 members of his community, some of them minority.
Blackmore is the bishop of the Bonapole congregation and the spiritual leader of a group of extremist Christians who retired from the Mormon Church of Messiah the Apostles, in part because of their unwillingness to give up polygamy.
His son Merlin became a network star after deciding to expose his unconventional life in the family.
Along with his brother Warren and half-brother Murray, Merlin turned to Tiktok to tell how it feels to live in a closed community.
The trio, who have now left Bauntipol and are close to their mothers, said they hope the next generation will already be called "family" and not "cult".
In one video, Merlin, who now lives in the U.S. and has seven siblings from the same mother, reveals how he had to leave the community to talk freely about his experience. "I wanted to talk about it but I had to leave because I was afraid someone would show up at my doorstep and do something to me. Because I talked about how I grew up as a kid, "he says." I wanted to talk about it for years.

In another video, Merlin describes how he is part of a "trio" because he has a half-brother and a half-sister who were born on the same day he was born - but to different mothers.
"My brother and sister are married to religion now, so I have no more contact with them," he adds.
In another video he explains the large age range between his brothers.
He said his older brother is 44 years old while the youngest is only a year old.
He also says that the birthday parties in his family are "quite normal".
He said: "It was not like 150 people showed up for everyone's birthday party. It was more like your closest friends and the children closest to you in age. Mostly your biological siblings came and brought you birthday presents and your closest friends."
He added: "Sometimes if there were a few birthdays close together, we would celebrate them as one big birthday party, but that didn't happen often. For the most part every child would celebrate his birthday like every child around the world celebrates."

His brother, Warren Blackmore, who still lives in Canada, also shared his story about his time at church.
"Merlin and I are brothers from the same mother and actually best friends," he said, "with Murray we grew up in the same house and did everything together, our mothers are like sisters. Instead of hating each other like a lot of brothers do, we build each other and we encourage each other. "The other to know that we can do everything we strive for. We are always there for each other. I lived in a house with 17 brothers."
In another video, he said he studied with 19 members of his family in his class at the school his father ran.
All the children were born in 1999: "I had five brothers, four sisters, seven cousins and two nephews in my class. I went to school with my nephews, we were the same age."
Warren also said they grew most of their own food - such as potatoes, corn and tomatoes.

Murray, however, said he left private school and went to a public high school in his senior year, where he learned about his family in a history class.
"A lot of people said they learned about my family in class and so did I. During the last year of high school, I attended a public school near a nearby town and enrolled in a law class."
He said he very quickly came across a chapter dealing with polygamy: "There's a whole section in the law book that talks about my family. Everyone also knows I'm from this family. So yeah, I learned about that too."
